Home Is Here T-Shirt
Kentucky for Kentucky
The monarch butterfly is a beautiful, vibrant symbol of migration for dreamers. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is a temporary program that provides relief from deportation and work authorization for dreamers who were brought to America as children. Just like the monarch butterfly can cross borders and migrate to survive, people migrate in order to survive as well. Izabel Gomez envisioned monarch butterflies in the shape of our Commonwealth, because this is a place where everyone belongs. Izabel is a senior at Berea College and her passion is art: she believes art can bring people together.
Proceeds from this t-shirt will go to Kentucky Dream Coalition (KDC). A youth-led community organization which builds leadership within Kentucky's immigrant community; advocating and fighting for immigrant rights'. KDC provides resources, guidance, and support to under-represented immigrant communities; dismantling walls that negates the community from being fully aware of their rights as workers, students, and parents. KDC helps to create change that will last for future generations of immigrants and solidifies the communities by collaborating to create intersectional and meaningful work.
