HIBERNATION HAS ENDED: A KILLER COLLAB

By KY for KY Store Admin |

A TEE WITH KISMET & AN EASTER EGG

METH SYNDICATE X BOSS DOG X KY FOR KY

:::BUY THIS TEE:::
PRESALE ENDS TUESDAY, FEB 7, 2023

We wanted a Cocaine Bear t-shirt collab with people who make stuff that Cocaine Bear would like. Easy. Meth Syndicate makes scathing, hilarious, and completely uncivilized t-shirts. Cocaine Bear would wear every single one of them.

But we also know how cold calls go and we waited for a good moment to cast the line. Luckily, our Creative Director is both hawk-like in his focus and magical in his ability to see the links. "Hey, Stanley was in a picture in his stories with Meth Syndicate."

Let's back up because it's worth it to do so. Stanley Sievers was Kentucky for Kentucky's first ever hired employee. He shipped out packages a decade ago back when our company didn't even really know it sold merch. He was in his early 20s at the time and tales of the regional success and fame of his extremely talented metal band, Dead Icons, which he started as a teen, cloaked him in a lot of coolness. Stanley was born with street cred.

He was also born with boatload of comedic, acting, and directing talent and moved on to a film career. Jump forward to, recently, when in the midst of building KY for KY's TikTok cred, he moved to Los Angels. He quickly and easily grabbed the attention of the scene with Coming out of Mosh Retirement aka DAISH content and merchandise of his own. So, of course he has an agent now, and of course he hangs out with Meth Syndicate.

Alright, thanks to Stanley being incredibly cool in a lot of ways, we have an in.

Back and forths with Meth Syndicate are positive and brief: "Yes! Let's do this!" "Hey, I have a buddy I want to work with on this, brb." Then he sends the design and it has another name on it, BOSS DOG. Um, what? We knew they worked together but didn't think this Cocaine Bear tee would be getting treatment by the eminent t-shirt artist. Not only is Boss Dog a sick illustrator, they have an inspiring and highly-respected social presence, and a store front in *the* Palm Springs. Boss Dog is also a brand Cocaine Bear would destroy.

Here's the part that I didn't even know about until we dropped the tee. One of our cool and astute followers on Facebook noted that there was an easter egg hidden in this tee! The comment said: "Love the Black Cat Mystery Comics 50 reference. #GeekCred"

So I looked it up...
