So many great inventions have come out of our amazing state- cheeseburgers, high fives, the Happy Birthday song, and last but not least, fried chicken. Following in the footsteps of these ingenious inventions, we decided to concoct one of our own, immortalizing fried chicken with a King Midas touch. Ladies and Gentleman, we bring you Gold plated Fried Chicken Bone Necklaces and Earrings. Give the gift of gold this Christmas with the most Kentucky fried pieces of jewelry in the world.
In June of 2014, Meg C Jewelry and Kentucky for Kentucky changed the jewelry game forever when we introduced a line of gold-plated Kentucky Fried Chicken Bone necklaces. Real gold necklaces made from the chicken wang bones of a KFC 8-piece dinner. A glorious unofficial collaboration between Fort Knox and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Just in time for the holidays, we're excited to announce that those beautiful hand crafted gold-plated Kentucky Fried Chicken bone necklaces are back.
In addition to the necklaces, we're also excited to announce we're adding a little something new and fresh into the mix – Gold Plated Kentucky Fried Chicken Bone Earrings. You heard that right, Gold Plated Kentucky Fried Chicken Bone Earrings. No joke, beautiful handcrafted gold earrings made with real bones from a Kentucky Fried Chicken 8-piece chicken dinner. Possibly the greatest holiday gift since our famous fried chicken scented candles last December. You'll feel like a Southern Belle Bam-Bam in these stunning earrings made of real gold and real Kentucky Fried Chicken bones.
We know that while you've been snug in your bed, visions of gold-plated Kentucky Fried Chicken Bone earrings have been dancing around in your head.
So how'd Meg C create these game-changing Kentucky Fried Chicken Bone Necklaces? After hitting up a local KFC here in Lexington Kentucky, Meg got down to business and crushed a bunch of chicken wings. After she had her fill, Meg cleaned the bones with soap and water and let them dry in the fresh Kentucky air and sunshine.
From there the bones were sealed with varnish and painted with a graphite conductive paint so the copper would stick during the electroforming process. Meg explains, " After they are painting with varnish and graphite conductive paint, they have to be copper electroformed which takes about 3-4 hours per bone. Once they are completely covered in copper they can be gold electroplated." It's a complicated and long process that's worth it.
When we were talking to Meg about these Kick-Ass KFC necklaces and earrings she offered a few style pointers for the ladies. Though these sexy gold bones can be worn with anything, she instructs, "you can rock your gold-plated chicken bone with a pair of jeans and a t-shirt or your little black dress, that's the great thing about gold, it makes any outfit look fabulous. And don't chicken bones just go with everything?" Oh yes, Meg, they certainly do.
